The Indian Army has been mobilized to control an intense forest fire in Uttarakhand, with the Indian Air Force (IAF) using Bambi Buckets to combat the blaze. The fire, which ignited near Nainital district headquarters, has taken a severe turn, threatening the residents of High Court Colony. In response, the district administration has prohibited boating in Naini Lake due to the ongoing blaze. The fire, which has been burning for the last 60 hours, has destroyed over 108 hectares of forest land. As the fire approaches an Air Force Station near the Nanda range, the IAF has activated its aerial firefighting capabilities and deployed a Mi-17 V5 helicopter for Bambi Bucket Operations.
The Indian Army has also sent two units to fight the fire in the Kumaon region at the request of the forest department.
